DESCRIPTION:Raj has visited BCS several times over the years and we are once again delighted to welcome him back.  His talks are extremely entertaining and in this\, his latest venture\, he will be taking a light hearted look at the differences between village life in India and England.  Through his own experience and gentle humour he will explore such topics as how to greet your neighbour\, what happens at a village celebration and how each community copes with a heat wave! SUMMARY:“CASTE IN INDIA: NATURE AND DISCRIMINATION” – A TALK BY VINAYAK KALE
DESCRIPTION:Vinayak has worked for a number of non-governmental organisations in India for 10 years and is currently in his third year of a PhD at the University of Bristol.   In this insightful talk he will explore the nature of caste where a person’s status\, occupation and marriage options are determined at birth and lower castes are denied access to land\, education and even clean water.  Vinayak will share his own experiences of growing up in India and deliver a highly thought provoking insight into the caste system.  A light lunch will be served after the talk.
